Innovative Therapeutic Riding Program

About Us

Our Story

Since 2011, Innovative Therapeutic Riding Program (ITRP) has helped individuals with special needs reach their highest potential using adaptive riding and horsemanship activities. Through the collaborative efforts of our founders, team, volunteers, sponsors, and community we are promoting the knowledge and skills of horsemanship to support the health, well-being, and safety of people with physical, cognitive, and emotional special needs.

Our team has over 106 years of combined experience in therapeutic riding. In 2017, we were able to serve 112 clients with the help of 64 volunteers who volunteered over 2,440 hours.

Our Mission

Our Horses

Meet our horses, the most valuable members of the Innovative Therapeutic Riding Program team. In fact, without them the Center could not exist! They are truly the backbone of our riding program.

Sponsoring a Horse

ITRP’s horses are specially trained and cared for daily. Sponsoring a horse enables us to continue providing the highest quality care while keeping the cost of lessons low for our participants. Your contributions will help cover the multitude of expenses associated with upkeep: feed, bedding, vet bills, hoof care, vaccinations, training and exercise for these wonderful animals. In return, our horses offer the highest quality performance for our participants. A win-win! Sponsorships are available to individuals, companies, clubs, or any other organization. All sponsorships can be designated to a specific horse or to the “horse with the greatest need.” It is completely up to you! Sponsorships are fully tax-deductible. You or your organization will receive benefits for your generosity, including regular communication from ITRP showing what your sponsored horse has been up to and the people he/she works with on a daily basis. Our tax exempt EIN number is 45-4815665.

Donating a Horse

Thank you for your interest in donating your horse to Innovative Therapeutic Riding Program. In order to donate a horse, the horse must at least meet the following guidelines:
  • Be sound and in good physical condition
  • Have a calm temperament
  • Get along well with other horses
  • Be completely saddle broke and trained
If your horse is accepted for a probationary period (up to 6 weeks), staff members at ITRP will work with it to determine whether or not it meets all qualifications and standards. If you feel your horse may qualify for our program, please contact us here.
